THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL IN OUR 47 YEAR HISTORY?
14th Jan 2020With the terrible news of fires in Australia and flooding in Indonesia, the terrible impact of climate change is inescapable. As pumps are said to account for 10% of the world’s electricity consumption, our industry has a huge opportunity to help reduce the world’s carbon footprint. We already work with many fantastic companies who work to improve the environment, ranging from air pollution control to renewable energy storage, but we want to go another step further in 2020.
That’s why our new year’s resolution here at Crest, is to become carbon neutral by 2021.
At present, I don’t exactly know how ‘carbon positive’ we currently are, but I do know that there are plenty of ideas that we can, and will, implement to reduce our footprint. I realise that we could just buy some carbon credits and call ourselves carbon neutral tomorrow, but that is not our goal. This project is about fundamentally changing our habits for a better long-term future, whilst considering all the usual business implications such as cost and return on investment.
I will keep a track of our progress through the year, but any advice or guidance would be gratefully received – To start with, any recommendations for the best carbon footprint calculators to use??
