Powering Nissan Gigafactory: Crest Pumps enables safe NMP delivery.

The Nissan Gigafactory in Sunderland, UK, is a pioneering hub for electrical vehicle production, showcasing Nissan’s commitment to sustainable mobility. With advanced technology and eco-friendly practices, the plant plays a vital role in shaping the future of automotive manufacturing, contributing to a greener world.

 

Cromex has played a critical role in the enablement of the Gigafactory, with the design and installation of process systems on site. Part of the phase one enablement required a delivery of NMP delivery to the EV plant.

 

N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) is a powerful solvent used in various industrial applications such as petrochemical processing, pharmaceuticals, electronics and agrochemicals. It’s known for its ability to dissolve a wide range of substances and its high boiling point, making it valuable in many manufacturing processes. However, it’s also known for its potential health and environmental risks.

Cromex reached out to Crest Pumps to offer support in selecting appropriate pumps to suit such critical applications with the ability to handle the aggressive solvent.

 

AMA & AMXi lined mag drive pumps were selected to do the job. Cromex has so far praised the knowledge, communication and quality of the products for this project, stating that they would recommend Crest due to “dealing directly with knowledgeable and helpful representatives, who are able to understand our requirements and offer solutions with clear communication on pricing and lead times.”
